ER visit December 12, 2008

On Wednesday, my gremlin became very ill — vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and dehydration. Yesterday he started to break out in an allergic rash and hives, so we took him to the ER — a 10-hours-visit-almost-admit. My gremlin turns 3 years old in February. It’s not easy comforting a toddler when you are forcing him to take icky medications and stick needles in his arms. I don’t know how parents with terminally ill children cope. It is so heart wrenching to see you beloved child’s eyes call for your aid in fighting off the doctors and nurses but all you can do is be there for him. I knew they were bruising his little arms but he needed the tests and IV fluids. In all, my son is a tough little boy. If he wasn’t so dehydrated he would have kicked everyone’s ass.

Today he is looking so much better. Hubby is shampooing the carpet and washing all the dirty laundry from this messy ordeal. I’m upstairs in bed overlooking my angel as he sleeps so peacefully. I know he still has a lot more crying to do, as he processes all the stress he’s been under the last few days. But right now, he is okay and resting. :)
