Dexter December 15, 2006

My hubby made me watch an episode of Dexter, a Showtime series. I didn’t want to watch the show because the name emotionally triggers me. It is the last name of a guy who hurt me. I didn’t want to like the series, but I do! I think I like Dex for several reasons but mostly because he’s an advocate for kids. He is not a serial killer. I think that is his identity crisis. He is a vigilante. Dexter’s justifiable homicides protect innocence.

sorry about the trigger of the name. yes the show is strange in nature but has many likable themes running through it and can provide fodder for interesting conversations. his own search for identity along with the nature of trauma also adds to depth of show.

Interesting conversations indeed . . . like when my hubby made a start remark about someone, he said, “Someone oughta pull a Dexter on him.” Dooh!
